Creating Replenishment Proposals

Purpose

In the missing quantities calculation , the system identifies the missing quantities. The system then uses this information to create the replenishment proposals. You have various options for creating replenishment proposals.

This process describes the individual steps taken by the system when creating replenishment proposals.

Prerequisites

  • Automatic supply-to-production is allowed for the control cycles in question.

  • The control cycles in question are not currently locked by another user.

  • You have assigned a lot-sizing procedure for automatic supply-to-production in the control cycle, under Start of the navigation path Logistics Next navigation step Logistics Execution Next navigation step JIT Outbound Next navigation step Basic Data Next navigation step Control Cycle Maintenance End of the navigation path .

Process Flow

  1. Lot-size creation

    In the lot-size creation, the system creates a corresponding replenishment proposal for each missing quantity. Replenishment proposals which lie in the past are moved forward to now .

    The system groups the replenishment proposals depending on the lot-sizing logic you chose in the control cycle. Here, the system takes the earliest date of all the replenishment proposals in the grouping as the date for the replenishment proposals. However, this date can be overruled by the scheduling type in the control cycle. For more information, see also Special Settings in the Control Cycle .

  • 2.        Rounding

The replenishment proposal quantities are always rounded according to the base unit of measure .

However, you can also define a rounding logic via the packing instruction in the control cycle. The system uses this logic for replenishment proposals which are created automatically or which were created manually at supply segment level. However, this rounding logic is not applied to replenishment proposals which were created or changed individually.

Example Example

A surplus may arise as a result of rounded quantities which is offset against subsequent missing quantities. If, for example, in a packing instruction you have defined that replenishment elements are always to be rounded up to ten and you only have a missing quantity of five, a surplus of five exists.

If another missing quantity of three exists for a dependent requirement that lies further in the future, no new replenishment element is created as a surplus of five still exists from the first one. For more information, see also Special Settings in the Control Cycle .

  • 3.        Scheduling

The requirements date of a replenishment proposal is the date on which a component is to be available in production. The requirements dates for replenishment proposals depend on the dates of the missing quantities. This means that scheduling concentrates on the requirement.

However, you can overrule this scheduling. To do this, maintain the scheduling type in the control cycle. For more information, see also Special Settings in the Control Cycle .

Note Note

If you do not make any setting regarding the scheduling type in the control cycle, the system only creates immediate requirements.

Result

The system creates replenishment proposals which you can either accept or change, if necessary. The saved replenishment proposals are then included as summarized JIT calls in the list of planning elements.
